Learn about the projects
that we've been working on

We are working on a number of projects in our local area, enhancing and protecting important aspects of our community.

WORKSHOPS & FIELD DAYS

Building local capability and capacity, networking opportunities and information flow. Where needed, the UWCC will support the forming of catchment groups within the foothills to support local communities.

ENVIRONMENTAL BASELINE SUPPORT PROGRAMME

Support from Conan Moynihan, Director of Force of Nature Consulting in the form of five Farm Environment Plan Workshops per year. Water quality monitoring for FAP+ requirements and an FEP Maintenance Programme.

WATER QUALITY SAMPLING

The UWCC Steering Group has established collaborative relationships with parties currently holding water quality data. We are in the process of getting a series of water maps to identify gaps in monitoring and have the opportunity to train landowners in water sampling. Data interpretation will be reported back to the wider group.

CONNECTION, SUPPORT, TELLING OUR FARMING STORY

The UWCC is passionate about creating opportunities for greater interaction between landowners, smaller landholders, land managers, communities and youth.

BIODIVERSITY SUPPORT

The UWCC intends to support biodiversity within the foothills. This will be done through a greater understanding of current biodiversity levels and supporting farmers and community groups with addressing areas where they would like to do more.

FOCUS CATCHMENT MAP SERIES (FCMS)

The UWCC alongside EOS Ecology hosted an informative evening looking at the Map Series that has been specifically resourced for the Upper Waikirikiri/Selwyn Catchment.

This project is a part of the ‘Wai Connection – Tatai Ki Te Wai’ project.

This gathers together existing information, primarily available from national or regional datasets, and display it on maps of your focus catchment area. This information includes a mix of mapped data that has been provided via modelled data, plus site-specific data that is based on actual collected survey information. The majority of the data is obtained from online sources that are available for anyone to access.

This a beautiful Map Series Document with a huge amount of information. Click the link below to view.
